    Second trimester maternal serum screening

Second trimester maternal serum screening (also called quad screen or triple screen) is an optional prenatal test. It checks substances in your blood like alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) to see if there is a higher chance of conditions like Down syndrome, trisomy 18, or spina bifida.

    Cell-free DNA screening (cfDNA)

Cell-free DNA screening, also known as noninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS) or noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT), is an optional prenatal blood test. It checks your blood to see if your pregnancy has a higher chance of having genetic conditions like Down syndrome (trisomy 21), trisomy 18 or trisomy 13.
